What I can give you is the advice and tips that I was given last year. First, think of these prompts as very similar to a picture prompt without the picture. The situation is presented to your students and they should create a narrative using it. Typically, this is in a problem-solution scenario. If the prompt uses names, have your students use the same names. If the prompt simply says “boy” or “girl” be sure that they have their response match. I have my students restate the problem/situation briefly in the first paragraph in order to set the scene.
